Powerpoint introduction looks at why we would classify an animal as either a bird or fish and gives examples. Activity is cut and stick to sort animals into whether they are either birds or fish.

This is a lesson which was taught to a KS3 SEN maths group to develop their recognition of standard and non-standard measures of weight and capacity. It also allows the student to develop their skills in using both standard and non-standard measures. This contains lesson plan and resources.

This lesson was used for my observation this week for which I had fantastic feedback and the students were really engaged (it was KS3 SEN who are at Y1 level so would be suitable for either). The flipchart included is an Active Inspire file and has counting in 5s starter and examples of how to add the totals of money. The students then went on to complete the questions in the word file (this is included and questions are differentiated). It was then back to the flipchart for money bingo which has addition to 20 questions. This can be adapted to suit the needs of your class
